Das 7. internationale literaturfestival berlin findet vom 4. bis 16. September 2007 statt.
Der Vorverkauf für einige Veranstaltungen hat begonnen.
Die Eröffnungsrede wird der israelische Autor David Grossman halten.
Der Literaturnobelpreisträger Wole Soyinka aus Nigeria wird aus seinen zuletzt erschienenen Memoiren und Gedichten lesen. Mario Vargas Llosa liest aus seinem Roman “Das böse Mädchen”.
Autoren wie Nicholas Shakespeare, Aharon Appelfeld, Katharina Hacker, Azar Nafisi, Julia Franck, A.L. Kennedy, Martin Mosebach und der nordirische Pulitzerpreisträger Paul Muldoon haben ihre Teilnahme zugesagt. Wolf Biermann gastiert erstmals im Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
Das Festival mit dem diesjährigen „Fokus Lateinamerika“ will nicht nur etablierten Autoren der Region ein Forum zur Diskussion und zum Austausch bieten, sondern ganz besonders auch jüngeren Autoren.
Über 100 Schriftsteller werden in 200 Veranstaltungen (Lesungen, Vorträge und Diskussionen) auftreten. Die Autoren werden in der Originalsprache aus ihren Werken lesen. Namhafte Schauspieler tragen die deutschen Übersetzungen vor. Im Anschluss finden Diskussionen mit Moderatoren und Publikum statt.
Hauptveranstaltungsort wird wieder das Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Wilmersdorf sein, aber auch an anderen Orten wie Kulturinstituten, Gefängnissen oder Clubs wird gelesen.

The 7th international literature festival berlin will take place from September 4 to 16, 2007.
Advance booking for some of the events has begun.
The opening speech will be given by Israeli author David Grossman.
Wole Soyinka of Nigeria, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, will read from his recently published memoirs and poetry. Mario Vargas Llosa will read from his novel "Mischiefs of the Bad Girl".
Authors such as Nicholas Shakespeare, Aharon Appelfeld, Katharina Hacker, Azar Nafisi, Julia Franck, A.L. Kennedy, Martin Mosebach and the Northern Irish Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Muldoon have already confirmed their participation. Wolf Biermann will perform at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele for the first time ever.
The festival, which will have a "Focus: Latin America" this year, intends to offer a forum for discussion and exchange not only for established writers from the region, but especially to young writers as well.
Over 100 writers will appear in 200 events (readings, presentations, discussions). The authors will read from their work in the original language while well-known actors will read the German translations. Readings will be followed by a discussion involving the moderators and the audience.
The main venue for events will once again be the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Wilmersdorf, but readings will also be held at other places such as cultural institutes, prisons and clubs.
